School board members are responsible for setting the climate for student discipline in the district, implementing policies with fidelity, and ensuring student disciplinary hearings comply with the law.
IASB has updated its Online Learning course, Senate Bill 100: School Discipline Reform. This course provides information for Illinois school board members regarding the role of the board in student discipline under Senate Bill 100. Course topics include the discipline foundations unchanged under SB 100, plus changes to suspension and expulsion procedures, disciplinary removals to alternative schools, behavioral and disciplinary interventions, and additional SB 100 mandates.
