IASB Calls-To-Action

There are some legislative issues that require a quick and dedidated response from IASB members. The advocacy efforts of school board members can help influence the way lawmakers view bills and give legislators a better understanding of the local impacts a piece of legislation may have on school districts.

Listed below are Calls-To-Action requests encouraging IASB members to reach out to members of the General Assembly.

Call to Action: Oppose HB2970 (notice to remedy)

HB2970 would allow teachers to grieve the issuance of a notice to remedy, adding procedural hurdles and potentially delaying necessary disciplinary action, creating significant challenges for school districts when managing employee misconduct.

Call to Action: Oppose HB1358 (limits district use of education waivers)

HB1358, House Amendment 1 severely limits districts’ ability to request and renew physical education (PE) waivers, and other education-related waivers, reducing local flexibility and control over a district's educational programing.
