House Gets Organized, General Assembly Set to Get Down to Business
The Illinois House returned to Springfield on January 31 to adopt the rules that will govern its chamber for this session and take the necessary steps to get organized. With both chambers now having completed their organizational duties, legislative action will begin ramping up. Both chambers will begin legislative committee work next week.
All standing committees of the Illinois Senate have been assigned both chairs and members. You can find the full list of Senate committees on the General Assembly website. Of special interest are the members of the Senate Education Committee, which is now being chaired by Senator Adriane Johnson (D-Waukegan), and the newly formed Senate Appropriations-Education Committee chaired by Senator Meg Loughran Cappel (D-Crest Hill).
