IASB officers and directors met in August for information and action related to the Association’s Resolutions Process and to prepare for activities in conjunction with the 2024 Joint Annual Conference.
Business included approval of rules brought forth by the Resolution Committee from its August 2 meeting and approval of the Business Rules for the IASB Delegate Assembly scheduled for November 23.
The Board also approved the FY24 Audit Report and Annual Work Plan.
The Board’s annual work plan for the next year will include dialogue sessions with membership groups, scheduled monitoring of policies, governance process improvement activities, and Board member knowledge and skill-building.
Conference Committee co-chairs Chris Gordon and Robert Geddeis shared an update on registrations and activities planned for the 2024 Joint Annual Conference. The Annual Conference is scheduled for November 22-24 in Chicago, with events beginning on November 21.
Board learning and discussion included a preview by Executive Director Kimberly A. Small , J.D., of a new technology for staff to understand member engagement with IASB programs and services. Small also shared an update on the Vision 2030 policy initiative the Association is discussing with other educational organizations.
In other activities, IASB officers and directors completed their third and final work session in conjunction with online training modules discussing diversity, bias, microaggressions, and allyship. The training lays a foundation for continued growth and knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion to better serve IASB members.
Members of the Board also conducted its annual Board Self-Evaluation. Like a school board self-evaluation workshop, the process allows all board members an opportunity to reflect on behaviors, processes, and work to function as a high-performing board.
The Board of Directors will meet again on November 21 for the next quarterly business meeting. The board will also meet on November 24 for a reorganization.
