COSSBA’s 2025 National Conference
Registration continues for the 2025 national conference of the Consortium of State School Boards Association (COSSBA). Themed “Education for All: Bridging Gaps, Breaking Barriers,” the conference will take place March 21-23, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia.
The COSSBA National Conference includes speakers Laila Ali, Brandon Farbstein, and Princess Sara Culberson, plus over 70 presentations, an exhibitor showcase, student performances, networking opportunities, and more. Early Bird registration rates end on December 20.
COSSBA’s Unified Boards Alliance (UBA) Pre-Conference Day, offers “A Deeper Dive: into the theme, focusing on transformative practices and policies that are paving the way for educational equity and excellence for every learner. Presentations and speakers include Dr. John W. Hodge, president and co-founder of Urban Learning and Leadership Center (ULLC); the Georgia School Board Association’s Youth Advisory Council; and a keynote with Dr. Bernice A. King, CEO of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center For Nonviolent Social Change.

The COSSBA webinar series continues in 2025 with “School Crisis and Tragedy: The Board’s Role & Responsibility” on January 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. Central Time. This free webinar will explore the critical role that school board members play during crises and tragedies affecting educational institutions, highlighting the importance of preparedness, clear communication, decision-making under pressure, and post-crisis recovery.

Other events: The COSSBA calendar includes a new Wellness and Safety Conference, scheduled for St. Louis on June 25-27, 2025. The next Federal Advocacy Conference, an opportunity for school board members to advocate for public education at the national level, is September 7-9, 2025 in Washington, D.C.

Founded by state school boards associations in late 2021, the Consortium of State School Boards Associations (COSSBA) is a non-partisan, national alliance dedicated to sharing resources and information to support, promote, and strengthen state school boards associations as they serve their local school districts and board members. Illinois is a founding member of COSSBA.
