General Session Speakers Announced for 2024 Conference

Four keynote speakers at three General Sessions will inspire and elevate the attendees at the 2024 Joint Annual Conference in Chicago.
Kicking off the First General Session on Friday afternoon, November 22, will be Mickey Smith Jr. A seven-time Teacher of the Year and recipient of the 2020 GRAMMY Music Educator Award, Smith has inspired children and adults through his unique motivational mixture of music and message. Smith is an international keynote speaker and presenter, who also continues to serve as a full-time teacher at The King’s Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida. Through a love for music, Smith creates a dynamic experience that entertains, educates, and elevates everyone to excellence.
Keynoting the Second General Session on Saturday will be David Horsager, CEO of Trust Edge Leadership Institute and a global authority on building high-trust teams and organizations. Horsager is the inventor of the Enterprise Trust Index™, Director of Global Study with The Trust Outlook®, and bestselling author of The Trust Edge, The Daily Edge, and Trusted Leader. Horsager’s decades of trust work have served as a catalyst for trust awareness and development across the globe.
Co-headliners and Illinois Superintendents Michael Lubelfeld, Ed.D., and Nick Polyak, Ed.D., will close out the final day of Conference on Sunday. Serving as a superintendent since 2010, Lubelfeld is currently Superintendent of Schools for North Shore SD 112 in Highland Park and Highwood. Nick Polyak is Superintendent for Leyden CHSD 212, serving students from Franklin Park, Melrose Park, Northlake, River Grove, Rosemont, Schiller Park, and Leyden Township. Together they have authored four books: The Unlearning Leader: Leading for Tomorrow's Schools Today; Student Voice: From Invisible to Invaluable; The Unfinished Leader: A School Leadership Framework for Growth & Development; and Unfinished Teacher: Becoming the Next Version of Yourself.
The IASB•IASA•IASBO Joint Annual Conference offers a variety of opportunities for inspiration and focused learning to support public education leaders’ professional and personal development. School leaders will hear from experts on critical topics such as school finance, community engagement, educational equity and advocacy, safety and security, collective bargaining, and more. The 2024 event will take place November 22-24 in downtown Chicago, with pre-conference activities beginning November 21.
