Three Join IASB Staff in Summer 2024

The Illinois Association of School Boards welcomed three new staff members to the Executive Searches, Office of General Counsel, and Policy Services departments.
Matt Brue joins IASB as a member of the Executive Searches team. Prior to IASB, Brue served students and families in schools and districts for 34 years in roles that included teacher, coach, school and district administrator, and consultant. He served as superintendent at PORTA CUSD 202 for 19 years and as a building administrator for eight years prior. Brue received a bachelor’s degree from Quincy University, and his master’s and superintendent’s certification from Illinois State University. He also will continue to serve the Regional Office of Education 51 in Sangamon and Menard Counties as a health/life safety and transportation training consultant.
Megan Mikhail has joined the IASB Office of General Counsel as Assistant General Counsel, based in the Lombard office. Mikhail practiced law for almost nine years with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Chief Counsel at Argonne National Laboratory. Her practice included serving as FOIA Counsel, representing management in security hearings, and providing legal counsel for financial assistance and contract awards as well as employment law cases. Prior to IASB, Mikhail worked in her local school districts as a substitute teacher and staff member with the Response-to-Intervention program. She has served as a board member of the Hinsdale Public Library Board of Trustees since 2021. Mikhail received her J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law.
Alyssa Sutton comes to the Illinois Association of School Boards from the healthcare/supply chain industry, in which she worked for over 10 years. She will be working from the Springfield location as a Specialist in the IASB Policy Services Department, working primarily with PRESS Plus. The department offers a full range of policy services and tools designed to meet the unique needs of boards of education, including PRESS (Policy Reference Education Subscription Service) and PRESS Plus, the customized, full-maintenance policy update service, plus school board policies online, policy manual customizations, and administrative procedures projects.
