Streator ESD 44 Offers Posted by IELRB 

Offers have been posted by the Illinois Education Labor Relations Board in negotiations between Streator ESD 44 and the Streator Education Association (SEA) Local 1511.  

The district and teachers have met several times for negotiating sessions since the expiration of the most recent contract in June 2024. These meetings have included federal mediation, with three sessions in February 2025. Offers were posted by IELRB on March 4; A posting does not indicate a strike is certain; the earliest possible strike date is March 18.  

Items under negotiation are compensation for teachers and support staff, health insurance, including moving part-time support staff to full-time in order to receive health insurance benefits, and extra duty stipends. The district is offering a 4% increase in step plus a step increase of 1.5% for three years, dating back to 2024. The board’s proposal also reconfigures the step calculations for support staff.  

SEA held a strike vote on January 13, starting a 45-day clock. 

Streator ESD 44 has approximately 100 teachers and educates 1500 students in three schools.
